Shine in the Dark: Psalm 112

Psalm 112

The Psalmist gives a pretty good list of things by which those who honor the Lord may be recognized:

  • Mercy
  • Compassion
  • Righteousness
  • Generosity
  • Justice
  • Bad news doesn’t frighten them
  • Steady hearts

But I think my favorite identifying mark of one who trusts in the Lord is:

They shine in the dark for others who do right.

Shine in the dark.

In a world darkened by hopelessness and hurt, shine in the dark.

In a world darkened by increasing divisions, hostility, and violence, shine in the dark.

In a world dominated by reactionary fear, shine in the dark.

In a world of injustice, shine in the dark.

Shine in the dark.

Shine in the dark as a ray of hope.

Shine in the dark as an agent of justice.

Shine in the dark with boldness and courage.

Shine in the dark.
